At the beginning of the 20th century, a time of upheaval, life sped up and the noise of the city became increasingly loud. The longing for an oasis of calm increased. In his poem Soir sur la plaine, Albert Samain (1858–1900) created a spiritual retreat in nature for readers. Marcel Dupré (1886–1971) masterfully transformed this concentrated mood into a musical piece.
The original was composed for choir and orchestra. Dupré transposed the orchestral part into a version for piano duet.
This first edition contains a foreword and information about the work in German, English and French.
