This sonorous miniature, intended for liturgical use, was originally composed for voice and strings in 1915. At that time, Marcel Dupré was standing in for Louis Vierne at Notre-Dame in Paris. The tonality of this musical gem is similar to Vierne's style. Tobias A. Frank's arrangement of the string part for organ is a welcome addition to the liturgical repertoire.
