Dupré had a special relationship with the cello – his mother was a cellist. Composed in 1916, the 3 Pieces for Cello and Piano were written in her memory. The miniatures presented here were composed over two decades later as examination pieces for the Troyes conservatory and were originally intended for sight-reading.
Here, Dupré combines pedagogical utility with sonic appeal: two short pieces that are easy to work on, yet also an enrichment for any chamber music concert.
