This charming composition reflects the love that the composer Marcel Dupré (1886–1971) had for his daughter, Marguerite. She went on to become a talented pianist, but sadly died at a young age.
Dupré wrote the miniature in 1916, when Marguerite was seven. The piece is designed for four hands, with both parts kept simple. The primo part is specifically intended for beginners.
The first edition includes a short preface in German, English and French.
