Borodine: Dans les steppes de l'Asie centrale (transcr. M. Dupré)
Two versions in one edition!
Alexander Borodin's popular symphonic poem In the Steppes of Central Asia also has a captivating effect when played on the organ. During World War II, Marcel Dupré (1886–1971) created an organ arrangement that makes use of the unique technical features of his instrument, such as the key-lock mechanism and manual division.
Tobias A. Frank has developed a version closely based on Dupré's arrangement, adapted for performance on a traditional three-manual organ.
Both versions are included in this first edition – Dupré's original and Frank's adaptation – along with:
- a foreword and information about the work in German, English and French;
- the specifications of Dupré's house organ in Meudon;
- a critical report.
