Chœur is an undated work by Marcel Dupré that captivates listeners with its idiosyncratic and surprising musical language. The text is based on the poem Le Printemps by Jules Barbier, one of the most significant French librettists of the 19th century. Celebrating the return of spring, it features images of nature awakening, wind and birdsong, the movement of ships and mythological scenes, which Dupré translates into a richly coloured musical landscape.
The original was written for choir and orchestra, and Tobias A. Frank has transcribed the orchestral part for piano.
