Marcel Dupré: La Source
Marcel Dupré: La Source
Back in 1912, Marcel Dupré (1886–1971), who was still a student at the time, set the poem La Source by Charles-Marie Leconte de Lisle (1818–1894) to music. Originally written for orchestral accompaniment, Dupré created an arrangement for choir and piano duet.
In his poetry, Leconte de Lisle describes nature untouched by humans. Through his choice of words, he creates a mood that conveys a sense of unity and emotion, capturing the image of peace and tranquillity with great sensitivity in his music.
This first edition includes a foreword and information about the work in German, English and French.
Additionally, a choral score with singable German (EDD 1602) and English (EDD 1603) translations is available.
